Sculpture

Problem Solver detail

Over the years I have found that looking at and working on sculptures helps me tremendously in my work.  I often refer to them as “problem solvers” and use them as a type of note taking or I guess note making.  Sometimes these sculptures take on a life of their own and become their own piece, their own world.  I try not to think of them too much other than problem solvers of which I refer to them as.  I always find an artist process fascinating, sometimes even more so than their work,  so here is apart of my process and I hope others find it fascinating as well.

The Outcome detail

“The Outcome” is the first of a series of sculptures I’m working on that will cover all the aspects of “sculpture”.  Unlike the “Problem Solver” my thinking is solely on the piece and how the form, shape, and color affects the surrounding space.  There are many conceptual drawings related to these sculptures and as each piece is worked on, more drawings are done to develop my thoughts.   My thinking of artwork is usually in the gray zone between a two dimensional and three.
